Making the Water Safer Makes the Environment Safer
Ordinary tap water may contain opportunistic waterborne pathogens. This test can be used to evaluate high risk areas in hospitals (ICUs, heme-onc, and transplant units) for possible presence of pathogens that cause significant, potentially deadly infections.
Use the SPL Waterborne Pathogens Panel to:
- Determine the potential for exposure within high risk areas to waterborne pathogens such as multi-drug resistant strains of Pseudomonas, Stenotrophomonas and Acinetobacter
- Determine if transplant units and other high risk areas require active environmental control strategies to improve patient safety and reduce infections
- Address the Joint Commission Environment of Care Standard
By virtue of their compromised health, some patients benefit from the exclusive use of water that meets a higher standard of microbiological quality
Waterborne Pathogens Panel Includes:
- Legionella
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Stenotrophomonas maltophilia
- Acinetobacter spp.
